How Well Are Your Web Pages Indexed at Google?

How Well Are Your Pages Indexed at Google?

How well are the pages at your website indexed at Google? Sure it's great to have your home page indexed, but that's a short-sighted approach to search engine optimization. If you want brides to find you online it's best to have as many of your web pages indexed as possible (and each should target different keywords/phrases!).

A few notes about Google...

1) "Indexing" means your page(s) are in the Google database and being returned as results. It does not mean "rank" or position for keywords.

2) You have to get IN first, then work on rank and positioning. The http://www.google.com/addurl.html link/service doesn't appear to do much.

3) The best way to get IN is to be linked from a well ranked website that is already being crawled by Google - like my popular Wedding Planning Links directory (http://www.weddingplanninglinks.com), for example.

4) The best way to STAY in is to keep those type of links, build more, and by all means don't do anything that smacks of cheating to get better positioning. Follow the guidelines established by Google, all of them, and you'll be in good shape.

5) Here's how you check how well your site is indexed by Google. It will show you all the pages Google has found and indexed at your website.

Use this link and change the XXXXX to your domain name.

Google also provides other valuable information that is extremely helpful in evaluating your online marketing efforts. Many of my clients and ADVANTAGE members get 80% or more of their traffic from search engines. It's not something to ignore.
