Where Are All Your Inquiries Going?

Chris Jaeger

Is Your Website Ready for 2007 (Part Three: SERPS)

SERP (Search Engine Results Page)

If you don't know where you are it's hard to figure out where you're going. Knowing where you are at Google, Yahoo!, and MSN is the first step to developing an effective search engine optimization strategy.

Search Engine Questions

Where are you now at Google?

What about Yahoo! and MSN?

Are you showing up for the keywords and keyword phrases are using?

Are you using the right keywords and keyword phrases (95% of the websites I visit are NOT!).

Do you have a multi-page / multi-keyword/phrase strategy, or are you trying to capture every keyword/phrase with one or two pages (this doesn't work!).

Do you know who is positioned above you at each of the search engines and why?

What is your current and long term strategy to move up?

What is your current or long term strategy to stay where you are, if you already have good positioning?

Do you have a Google Sitemap in place for your website?

Is it showing any errors?

How often is Google visiting your website or "crawling" it?

How often are the other crawlers or "spipders" visiting? Are you listed at DMOZ?

How is your backward link count?

What sites are giving you the best backward link value and what are you doing to make sure you don't lose them?

What the heck is a SERP? (search engine results page).
